June 19, 2024, 0800H - The SPAMAST ROTC Unit held a successful NSTP/ROTC Graduation Ceremony for both Advanced and Basic ROTC Cadets for the academic year 2023-2024. The event took place at the SPAMAST Auditorium in Malita, Davao Occidental, and featured COL Crisanto C Calit, OS (GSC) PA, Deputy Commander of the 11RCDG, RESCOM, PA, as the keynote speaker.
Other notable attendees included LTC Anwar Ray O Celis (INF) PA, CDC Commandant; Ma'am Michelle Elimino, representing the Vice President for Academic Affairs; Capt. Perlie T. Recamora (RES) PA, CMO Officer of the 1106th RRIBN, representing the EX-O Commander; SSG Lino M Espelimbergo (INF) PA, Chief Clerk of SPAMAST-ROTCU; and SSG Jorge D Bayhon (INF) PA. The event was organized under the guidance of Professor Bagindali A. Liwas, NSTP-ROTC Coordinator.
Nine Advanced ROTC Cadets (five males and four females) from the SINTIKAS class of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 completed the Advanced Reserve Officers Training Corps Program. Additionally, 143 Basic Cadets (90 males and 53 females) from the MASIDLAK class of 2023-2024 successfully finished the Reserve Officers Training Corps component of the National Service Training Program (NSTP).
In his address, COL Crisanto C Calit emphasized that the ROTC program goes beyond training, tactics, and strategies. He highlighted the program's role in instilling values such as leadership, effort, and selflessness, preparing future leaders to face challenges with courage and integrity.
The Joint Closing Ceremony gathered all Advanced and Basic ROTC cadets and their families to celebrate their achievements. The cadets demonstrated resilience and discipline, enduring hardships and maintaining military professionalism throughout their training. As they embark on their future paths, they are encouraged to uphold the values and lessons learned from the ROTC program.
