"𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙞-𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙪𝙣𝙤" 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣

Camp San Gabriel, Mintal, Tugbok District, Davao City – In line with the national government’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program and National Greening Program (NGP), the 11th Regional Community Defense Group, Reserve Command, Philippine Army, led by Col Josue M Caberto MI (GSC) PA, the Group Commander spearheaded the region-wide tree growing activity dubbed as "Sampung Libong Sari-saring Puno" in various areas across Davao Region on February 8, 2024.

The event was simultaneously conducted with the supervision of different Community Defense Center Directors in the five provinces and Davao City in partnership with various government offices, organizations, and stakeholders: 11RCDG; Ready Reserve Units and ROTC Units; NSTP officials; 27IB; 39IB; 25IB; 10ID, PA; Davao City Police Office/PNP; Department of Agriculture Region 11; and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Offices (MENRO, CENRO & PENRO); DENR Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental;  LGU DDO; 1st  DdO Mechanized RR Coy; 2nd Cav Mechanized Coy (S) Coy Armor Division, PA; City Agriculture Office; KAAAI; ROLP; 11RAAAI; TFOW; BCMT CL Mabagsik; Barangay Council functionaries; Sgt  Irha Mel I Alfeche PA (Res), Miss Earth Philippines 2024, and other volunteers.  

A total of 3,350 assorted fruit-bearing trees, (Jackfruit, Durian, Guyabano, Rambutan, and Mangosteen), and 7,000 non-fruit-bearing trees, such as Narra, Mahogany, Bayug, Name tree and Mangroves in the coastal lines, were simultaneously planted in Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, Davao City, and Davao Occidental, with an aggregate total of 10,350 assorted seedlings planted in a single day.    

Col Caberto lauded the participants: army personnel from different operational units, reservists, ROTC cadets, different volunteers and other stakeholders involved in the said activity. He emphasized the importance of collective effort to achieve more. "This activity would not have been possible without your strong support and cooperation. By planting trees, we are taking a crucial step toward restoring our environment and mitigating future disasters, Caberto said. (OS7, 11RCDG)
