Mintal, Tugbok Dist., Davao City – the Commander, Reserve Command (RESCOM) Philippine Army (PA) visited 11RCDG headquarters on July 29, 2023, to continuously assess the operational readiness and capabilities of the Regional Community Defense Group (RCDGs), Community Defense Centers (CDCs) and Ready Reserve Units, while looking after the morale and welfare of troops and reservist personnel.
During the visit, the Commander RESCOM MGen Romulo A Manuel Jr PA, personally bestowed the military awards in recognition of the hardworking reservists and organic personnel to include, the Meritorious Achievement Medals, presented to Colonel Isidro T Ungab GSC (RES) PA Commander, 2202nd RRIBDE and Congressman 3rd Dist. Davao City; Ltc Allan L Rellon GSC (RES) PA Battalion Commander 1102nd RRIBN and the Vice Mayor of Tagum City; Ltc Nilo P Demerey (RES) PA Battalion Commander 1505 RRIBN and Governor of Dinagat Islands and Ltc Reandrew A Rubio INF (GSC) PA, Director 1105 CDC Davao City, for conspicuously meritorious achievements in the performance of non-military activities and community development.
While Gawad sa Kaunlaran were awarded to Major Manuel A Gatus (INF) PA, Group’s Operations Officer: Sgt Danilo B Montemayor Jr (Res) PA and Pvt Juben A Corbita (Res) PA, both Reservists for meritorious achievements in the pursuit of socio economic and non-combat activities and the Sagisag ng Ulirang Kawal were given to Major Anwar Ray A Celiz (INF) PA, Director 1101st CDC in Digos City; MSg Elpedio L Caculba (Inf) PA; Group's First Sgt and SSg Danilo P Onac (Inf) PA, for meritorious performance involving non-military activity and development program.
Meanwhile, MGen Manuel lauded the 11RCDG, RESCOM PA led by Colonel Josue M Caberto MI (GSC) PA for his deep sense of commitment as evidenced by the incredible achievements through its innovativeness and purposive collaborative efforts due to the inevitability and increasingly role of the reserve force in an insurgency-free Davao region wherein the supported units shifted its focus on stability and support operations to continuously deny the CTG on its recovery efforts given the dynamic nature of security landscape.
In his message, the RESCOM, PA Commander emphasized to transition and capacitate the RRUs to mirror with the active components in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitudes in solving day-to-day military problems through Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) especially the officers in their respective shops in the RRBattalions/ RRBrigades guided by the“Performing while transforming" leadership framework.
He was grateful to the 11RCDG for the extensive effort in partnership with CHED 11 for the timely conduct of the first-ever “2023 Davao Region NSTP and ROTC Directors/Coordinators Summit” on July 28, 2023, held at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) Main Campus Obrero, Davao City participated by 200 ROTC cadets, academe and 160 NSTP and ROTC coordinators coming from the different Higher Educational Institution (HEIs) in Davao Region, and discussed ways forward to ensure that Davao Region is mandatory ROTC ready.
