𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, August 5, 2024, the 1001st Infantry Brigade, led by Brigadier General Ronnie B. Babac, Brigade Commander, had the honor of hosting Honorable Ruwina S. Gonzaga, Board Member of District 2, Davao de Oro, at the Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Brigade Headquarters in Mapaang, Davao de Oro.
During the ceremony, Board Member Gonzaga, who is also a Reservist in the Philippine Army, was awarded the Military Commendation Medal. She was recognized alongside other military personnel from the Brigade and operationally controlled units for their invaluable support to the Brigade’s projects at Mapaang Elementary School and Manipongol Elementary School, both located in Maco, Davao de Oro.
Last month, the Brigade proudly conducted the ribbon-cutting and turnover ceremonies for the School Gate Project in Manipongol and the School Gate Arc and Signage in Barangay Mapaang, both in Maco. These projects were funded through the proceeds from the Commander’s Cup held in December 2023.
Additionally, today’s Flag Raising Ceremony also commemorated the 𝟳𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘄 (𝗜𝗛𝗟). During the event, soldiers reaffirmed their commitment and support for IHL principles. This year’s IHL commemoration theme is: "𝙆𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣, 𝙆𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖, 𝙆𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙖𝙣, 𝙆𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣: 𝙆𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙃𝙇 𝙨𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙨," emphasizing awareness, care, peace, and progress as the strength of IHL in the New Philippines.
